Sport plays an essential role in our societies. Bringing people together, providing opportunities to all, and improving wellbeing and health.
Whilst creating huge benefits, modern day sport also has its challenges. The increasing realisation that the pressure of high performance sport can lead to mental health issues, the divide between elite and grass roots sport and the challenges of making sport accessible are all issues that need to be addressed.
The Sports Cluster will be addressing these and other issues, in particular looking from a wider systemic perspective at the role sport plays in building societies, healthcare, education and a sense of belonging.
The Sports cluster has formed with an influential and inspirational group of leaders in a variety of sports. With participants from all around the globe. It provides an international perspective on the challenges that the sports sector face and the role that sport plays in society.
